Extracurricular Programs

Theater

Students at the Academy love their theater program. It lets them sing, dance, act, construct sets, design programs, and band together to get the show on its feet. Middle School and Upper School students may elect to participate in Grade 7 and 8 spring musicals, the Upper School fall play, and the Upper School spring musical. Recent productions include MacbethThe Music ManThe Addams FamilyShe Kills Monsters, and Rent. In all theatrical productions, no student is turned away. Students may participate onstage or backstage, and almost half of the student body is somehow involved in the Upper School Musical.

Music

The halls of Staten Island Academy are never silent. Students actively learn about, read, listen to, and create music. They do it within the curriculum and during the school day in choral and instrumental ensembles from Grades 2-12. Upper School students, in addition to a wide variety of elective music courses, may participate in one of four music ensembles. Students may also take private music and instrumental lessons through the after-school Adventures Program (Pre-K through Grade 8), the Department of the Arts team, and affiliated music tutors (Grades 9-12).
