Milestones
- The Tigers set a school record by amassing 14 championships during the course of the 2021-2022 school year.
- The Boys’ Varsity Swim Team completed an undefeated season and won the 2022 ISAL swim championship.
- In the 2022 ISAL Swim Championships, the Tigers earned gold medals in a number of events: Erica M. '24 in the 100 Yard Butterfly and 100 Yard Backstroke; Ricky K. '22 in the 200 Yard Individual Medley and the 100 Yard Backstroke; Joe D. '23 in the 200 Yard Freestyle; Gabe D. '23 in the 100 Yard Freestyle; and the team of Ricky K. ('22), Gabe D. ('23), Joe D. ('23), and Hideki A. ('26) in the 200 Yard Medley Relay and the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.
- In the 2021 fall season, the Tigers’ Girls’ Varsity Soccer Teams captured their third consecutive PSAA regular season championship. Kelly G. '24 was named the PSAA Regular Season MVP.
- The Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team won the NYSAIS/PSAL Class A State Championship, defeating Brooklyn Law and Technology, 78-70, to earn the title.
- Three Tiger head coaches were recognized by the PSAA with Coach of the Year honors: Charlotte Sciarrino (Girls’ Varsity Basketball), Chris Bruno (Girls’ Varsity Softball), and Ryan Everett (Boys’ Varsity Tennis).
- Over 18 SIA athletes have been recruited to play either Division I, II or III athletics in college over the past 4 years.
- In girls’ tennis for the 2021 fall season, Alissar D. '23 earned the CHSAA Leadership Award; Emma P. '22 won the CHSAA Coaches’ Award; and Michele K. '22 won the CHSAA Sportsmanship Award.
- Alissar D. '23 was the runner-up for the 2021 CHSAA girls’ tennis singles title.
- Maddie C. '23 was named the 2022 PSAA Regular Season Girls’ Varsity Basketball MVP, and Allison G. '23 was named the Postseason MVP after the duo helped lead the Tigers to both the regular season and postseason titles.
- The Girls’ Varsity Softball Team and the Boys’ Varsity Tennis Team each went undefeated in independent league games in the spring of 2022. Both teams won the 2022 Regular Season and Postseason titles in both the ACIS and the PSAA.
- The Girls’ Varsity Softball Team earned its first ever trip to the NYSAIS tournament as a result of their tremendous season.
- The doubles team of Russell N. '24 and Tony G. '23 were selected to play in the prestigious NYSAIS tennis championship at the conclusion of the 2022 spring season.
- Bridget M. '23 earned the PSAA Most Valuable Player award in softball for both the PSAA Regular Season and the league’s Postseason Tournament.
- Tyler B. '24 was named the MVP of the PSAA Boys’ Varsity Tennis regular season, as the sophomore went undefeated in league play, recording straight set victories in each of his matches.
- Tony G. '23 earned the MVP of the PSAA Postseason Tournament.
- A school record 29 Tigers earned PSAA all-conference honors during the 2021-2022 school year.
- Bridget M. '23 took home the honors as Staten Island Academy’s 2021-2022 Athlete of the Year after a dominant year in softball, soccer, and basketball. Bridget helped lead her teams to 6 championships during the school year.
- Seniors Caroline C. '22 and Sebi C. '22 were nominated for the prestigious Varsity Club award, given to the top student-athletes from among all the high schools on Staten Island.
- Bridget M. '23 and Ricky K. '22 won the school’s coveted Randall and Huus Awards, respectively. These awards are given to the student-athletes who best demonstrate outstanding athletic ability, leadership, sportsmanship, and fair play.
