Pre-Kindergarten Program
What do 3- and 4-year-olds have in common?
Young children are curious, hands-on learners who are developing their independence and sense of self. They are building foundational academic skills in reading, writing and math - such as acquiring language, building vocabulary and organizing, categorizing and differentiating the world around them.
What are the pillars of our program?
Rich Classroom Environment: The classroom will be equipped with materials and activities supporting the development of young 3s to older 4s, preparing them for that transition to kindergarten. Reggio Emilia engages a child’s natural curiosity and need for exploration. Young children are explorers - they investigate and research. Montessori provides hands-on learning to concretely understand academic concepts in math, science, geography and reading.
Multi-age Community: Students are part of a multi-age community where older students become role models and “teachers” to their younger peers. Four-year-old students are ready for more leadership roles and responsibilities. The younger students look up to their older peers and emulate them. Peer-to-peer teaching allows children to put into practice what they have learned.
Meaningful Teacher/Student Connection: Students joining at 3 years of age will be in the same class for 2 years fostering a strong teacher/student/family relationship. Teachers will have a deep understanding of each student as a learner and member of the classroom community.
