I am happy to announce that Staten Island Academy's Athletic Department has appointed Mark Brandon, M.D. as its official team physician. Currently working with Richmond Orthopaedic Associates, Dr. Brandon specializes in sports medicine and orthopaedic surgery, and he has a great deal of experience working with student-athletes. Dr. Brandon has served as team physician for a number of Staten Island high schools, and he brings a lengthy list of credentials that will allow him to best serve our student-athletes who are injured during competition.
Please note that in the event of an injury to any of our student-athletes, all recommendations for advanced treatment and consultation will be directed to Dr. Brandon. Families, of course, will still be able to meet with whatever medical professionals they deem fit and seek whatever treatment they feel is best for their respective children. Jaime Kantor, our ATC (Athletic Trainer, Certified), will continue to provide immediate treatment during home competitions and practices, but if advanced treatment, care, therapy, or follow-up is necessary, she will apprise Dr. Brandon of the injury and encourage student-athletes and families to get in touch with him.
Our hope is that this partnership will provide a valuable service to our families and help our student-athletes in their recovery and rehabilitation from injury. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
