STUDENT LIFE: SCHOOL AWARDS AND HONOR SOCIETIES

National Honor Societies:
The National Junior Honor Society, Grades 7 - 9
The National Honor Society Excelsia Chapter, Grades 10-12
The NH societies recognize students who demonstrate outstanding qualities of leadership, scholarship, service and character. Students inducted into the societies are dedicated to the Academy ideals of independence, integrity, achievement, and service to others. Each year, NHS sponsors blood drives and other service projects.

The Language Honor Societies recognize gifted language students who have consistently achieved outstanding grades in a language. Students are inducted in NLHS in Grades 9-12.

The Primus Medal is given to a member of the Staten Island community by the Board of Trustees. This award recognizes extraordinary contributions to the Borough through the recipient's actions of leadership, service and compassion.
