Staten Island Academy Announces Winners of
Third Annual Excellence in Education Awards

April 3, 2008
Staten Island Academy is pleased to announce the winners of its third annual Excellence in Education Awards. The five winners are Diana Aversa from Curtis High School, Lenora Gillerman from the Richard H. Hungerford School, Kenneth Gold from the College of Staten Island, Deborah McNally Yalango from Port Richmond High School and Joanne Teasdale from Blessed Sacrament School.

Staten Island Academy is presenting a “Summer Opportunities Fair” on Tuesday, January 23 from 3:30-5:30 PM in the school’s Patrick Commons in Crowe Hall. The fair will feature approximately 20 representatives from programs for fun and study for students entering Grades 7 through 12 in September 2007. Additionally, literature from dozens of other programs will be available.

The event is free and open to the public.

Buck Gymnasium by the entire school community, and Alex's family and friends. Afterwards, the formal dedication took place around the flagpole on the renovated memorial field.

The Board of Trustees of Staten Island Academy is pleased to announce the appointment of John J. Fafian as President. Other newly appointed executive officers for the 2004-2005 Board of Trustees include Elissa Carpenter, Vice-President; Vincent J. Dugan (Academy class of 1983), Treasurer; and Dina Marie Filippini, Secretary. In addition, the board of the prominent college prep school named three new trustees: Suzanne Stirn Ainslie, Paul Dapolito III and Steven W. Pasko.

Staten Island Academy installed Diane J. Hulse as Head of School during a ceremony at the school. Mrs. Hulse is only the 15th Head of School since the Academy's founding in 1884.
