September 1, 2005 – The Oxford Alternotives, the oldest and highly acclaimed A Cappella group of Oxford University, England, will perform for Staten Island Academy for the second time on Wednesday, September 14, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Internationally famous for their ambitious arrangements that include jazz, soul, classics and popular music, the Oxford Alternotives have appeared at the largest balls in Oxford, Cambridge and London; the White House, Shea Stadium; the Empire State Building; the 58 th United Nations General Assembly, and other distinguished institutions.

The concert will include a workshop for all the students, demonstrating the fun, creativity and teamwork of A Cappella, with some students singing with the group during the performance.

“The Alternotive’s cutting-edge music is unforgettable and we are both thrilled and honored that they have chosen to visit us again,” says Frank S. Crane, Academic Dean. “This is a perfect example of the kind of enrichment we offer our students, who often talk about occasions like these for months to come.”

All proceeds from their second tour will be donated to the Helen House Children’s Hospice in Oxford, England.
