Overbooked, Overworked and About to Snap! March 1, 2007 – On Wednesday, April 11, Staten Island Academy’s Parents’ League is sponsoring a presentation by Edward Hallowell, M.D. Dr. Hallowell’s topic is “Overbooked, Overworked and About to Snap.” The discussion will take place at 7 PM in the Academy’s Haugen Hall Auditorium, 715 Todt Hill Road. The event is free and open to the public. In his presentation, Dr. Hallowell will teach attendees how to identify the most dangerous drains on their time and energy, develop a daily rhythm, replenish energy and focus throughout the day and prevent a state of overload. Dr. Hallowell, a graduate of Harvard College and Tulane Medical School, is a child and adult psychiatrist and director of The Hallowell Center in Sudbury, Mass. He was a member of the Harvard Medical School faculty from 1983 until he retired from academics in 2003 to devote his full professional attention to his clinical practice and lectures. He also has authored 14 books on various psychological topics. Dr. Hallowell will be available for interviews prior to and immediately following the presentation. Staten Island Academy is a college-preparatory day school with an average class size of 17. The Academy is composed of seven buildings, including a gymnasium and fitness center, theater and state-of-the-art computer facilities. Outdoors are two swimming pools, athletic fields, a playground and tennis courts. The Parents’ League is the Academy’s parent organization, which holds meetings, organizes events and supports school activities.
