Staten Island Academy Student Wins Golf Tournament

May 25, 2004 - Garrett Carpenter, a senior at Staten Island Academy, shot a 72 (par 71) to win the low medallist award at the New York State Association of Independent Schools Athletic League’s annual championship held at the International Course of the Concord Hotel in Monticello NY on Sunday, May 23, 2004.

Carpenter, along with five other qualifiers from the Independent School bracket, will compete against the qualifiers from the New York City public schools, up-state public schools and Catholic schools for the New York State championship on June 13 at the Tom Carvel Golf Club.

Ten independent schools participated in the NYSAIS tournament: Staten Island Academy, Portledge, Rye Country Day, Long Island Lutheran, Poly Prep, Columbia Prep, Nichols School, Horace Mann, The Hackley School and Dalton.
