Staten Island Academy 39th Annual Geranium Ball May 27, 2004 - Staten Island Academy is holding the 39th Annual Geranium Ball in honor of the Class of 2004 on Friday, June 4, 2004 at 7PM at the South Shore Country Club. Elissa Carpenter is chairing the traditional dinner and dance with assistance from co-chair Dina Marie Filippini. Committee members include Stacey Castellano, Elizabeth David, Anne DeMarzo, Linda Dezio, Mary DiBiasi, Deborah Fafian, Janet Falcone, Rose LaMorte, Sally Ling, Dr. Carolyn Raia, Dr. Ned Sithian and Teresa Vasaturo. The first Geranium Ball was held in 1965 as a year end celebration to honor graduates and to mark the final merger of the Academy’s Wall Street and Todt Hill Road campuses. The evening began with private dinner parties at the homes of Academy families followed by a party at the Headmaster’s residence to toast the graduates and their families. A sumptuous Ball and midnight supper then took place on the school’s campus. The prom-like event grew in popularity over the years making it the social event of the year. This is the first year the Geranium Ball will be held off campus. It will take place at the South Shore Country Club. E-Squared Productions ill provide music. Tickets to the event cost $100 per person. For reservations, contact 718-987-8100 ext. 233. Geranium Ball chairperson Elissa Carpenter is a longtime Staten Island Academy parent. Carpenter is the Vice President of the Academy’s Board of Trustees, and past president of the school’s Parents’ League. The Grasmere resident is the manager of Flowers by Bernard, a family owned business on Staten Island for 30 years. Co-Chair Dina Marie Filippini is also a longtime parent volunteer at Staten Island Academy. In addition to serving as the Board’s Secretary, Filippini chaired the school’s successful benefit auction inFebruary 2004. She served as president of the Parents’ League for two-terms. Staten Island Academy, founded in 1884, is an independent, co-ed college preparatory school educating children from Pre-Kindergarten through high school on a 12-acre campus located at 715 Todt Hill Road. The Academy is celebrating 120 years of educational excellence in 2004. ## |
