Honorable Francis H. Powers

The Staten Island Academy community mourns the passing of the Honorable Francis H. Powers, father of three Academy alumni,  John C. ’94, Douglas ’95 and Brian ’03. 

Mr. Powers was a dedicated philanthropist and supporter of  the entire Staten Island Academy community . His legacy to SIA includes the Honorable Francis H. and Dianne M. Powers Award for Excellence in the Sciences and Community Service and the Francis H. Powers Science and Technology Center. He served on the Staten Island Academy Board of Trustees for more than twenty years as president, treasurer, and honorary trustee.

The entire school community extends its condolences to his wife Dianne and the entire Powers family.

Friends will be received on Wednesday and Thursday, June 25 & 26 from 2-4PM and 7-9 PM at the Hanley Funeral Home, 60 New Dorp Lane. The funeral service will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace on New Dorp Lane, 10:30 AM Friday, June 27.
