Staten Island Academy to Host Richard E. Diamond Faculty Summer Enrichment Grant Symposium

October 4, 2006 – On Monday October 23 at 4 PM, Staten Island Academy will present the Richard E. Diamond Faculty Enrichment Grant Symposium. At this event, four faculty members will present information about their summer travels. Their activities were funded by the enrichment grant program that was established in memory of Richard E. Diamond, a 1949 graduate of the Academy, by the Diamond family. A violin recital by Grade 12 student Andrew Mayer will begin the program.

Art teacher Cynthia Capriata will discuss her travels in Turkey; Academic Dean and history teacher Frank Crane will talk about his trip to London and the surrounding countryside; Catherine Crofoot, English teacher, will present information about her attendance at the Cambridge University Teacher Seminar; and Lea Prendergast, head librarian, will highlight her participation in a storytelling workshop in Wales.

The event will take place in the Academy’s Haugen Hall Auditorium, 715 Todt Hill Road. Admission is free and open to the public. A reception will immediately follow the symposium.
