How does the Academy Fund benefit my family now?
Because the Academy Fund is needed to cover our operating costs, its success has a direct impact on the quality of education we offer our students. Gifts to the Academy Fund help the school to maintain small class sizes, enhance innovative curricular and extracurricular programs, maintain the Academy’s 12-acre campus and enrich athletics and the arts. All students benefit directly from funds raised.
Are my gifts tax-deductible?
Yes. Staten Island Academy is a federally registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, which means that gifts to the school are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Every donor receives a formal acknowledgement to present to his or her tax professional.
May I designate my gift to a specific area?
Yes. If you wish to contribute to a specific Academy program, please contact our Development Office directly at development@statenislandacademy.org.
Can the Academy help me fill out matching gift forms?
The Development Office is happy to help with all forms and processing details. Please contact development@statenislandacademy.org.
May I make my gift in installments?
Yes. You may make a gift using quarterly or even monthly payment plans. Donors who prefer to automate the process may give the Development Office a credit card number, set up a giving schedule and have pledge payments made automatically.
May I give anonymously?
Yes. You may choose complete anonymity. You also have the option to keep only the amount of your gift confidential, while still having your name listed among our donors in the Annual Report.
How much should I give?
Only you can decide the amount that is appropriate for you. We ask that you participate to the fullest extent possible for you and your family. We ask that parents make the Academy their highest philanthropic priority while their children are enrolled in the school. We also ask that our alumni recognize the value of their education and experiences at the Academy and help us offer those benefits to the students who follow them. Although gifts of thousands of dollars or more can be transformative, we understand that so-called “leadership” giving is beyond the capacity of all but a few people. We appreciate and gratefully acknowledge every gift, no matter how small.
