Mr. Ahern is the Assistant Director of College Guidance and a member of the Science Department. He earned a BBA in Marketing from Pace University and a Master’s degree in the Psychosocial Study of Human Movement from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Mr. Ahern began his teaching career in 1969 at local parochial schools and came to Staten Island Academy in September 1981. Since 1993, he has been a Senior Advisor and a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling. During this time, he attended numerous national conventions and served as moderator for several panel discussions.

Mr. Ahern's teaching responsibilities include: Physical Science, Biology, Anatomy, Astronomy/Oceanography, and AP Psychology. Additionally, in his tenure at the Academy, he has coached Girls Varsity Basketball, Softball, as well as Co-ed Cross-Country. He has participated on numerous Academy committees and is the recipient of the Richard S. Wolter Award and the Primus Medal.
