Milestones
- The Tigers amassed 13 championships during the course of the 2022-2023 school year.
- The Boys’ Varsity Swim team completed an undefeated season and won the 2023 ISAL swim championship.
- In the 2023 ISAL Swim Championships, the Tigers earned gold medals in a number of events: Patricia B. ’26 in the 100 Yard Butterfly; Gabe D. ’23 in the 100 Yard Butterfly and the 100 Yard Backstroke; Joe D. ’23 in the 200 Yard Freestyle and 500 Yard Freestyle; Gabe D. ’23 in the 100 Yard Freestyle; and the team of Tony G. ’23, Gabe D. ’23, Joe D. ’23, and Hideki A. ’26 in the 200 Yard Medley Relay and the team of Zachary D. ’23, Gabe D. ’23, Joe D. ’23, and Hideki A. ’26 in 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.
- In the 2022 fall season, the Tigers’ girls’ varsity soccer teams captured their third consecutive PSAA regular season championship. Allison G. ’23 was named the PSAA Regular Season MVP.
- The Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team represented NYSAIS in the NYS Federation “A” bracket.
- In varsity basketball, Saran M. ’23 and Ryan C. ’23 each surpassed the 1,000 point milestone for career points.

· Gabe D. ’23 earned the Silver Medal in the 100 Yard Backstroke in the prestigious NYSAIS Swim Tournament.
- Joe D. ’23 took home the Bronze Medal in the 200 Yard Freestyle in the NYSAIS Swim Tournament.
- Brian Manske, head coach of the Boys’ Varsity Tennis team, was recognized by the PSAA with Coach of the Year honors.
- Over 19 SIA athletes have been recruited to play either Division I, II or III athletics in college over the past 4 years.
- In Girls’ Tennis for the 2022 fall season, Nicole R. ’23 earned the CHSAA Leadership Award; Mar S. ’23 won the CHSAA Coaches’ Award; Alissar D. ’23 earned the CHSAA Senior Scholar Award, and Julianna M. ’23 won the CHSAA Sportsmanship Award.
- Bianca B. ’26 claimed the 2023 CHSAA girls’ tennis singles title.
- Seniors Yuliya T. ’23 and Alice C. ’23 earned the CHSAA girls’ tennis doubles championship.
- Ryan C. ’23, Madison P. ’23, and Maddie C. ’23 were named to the 2023 Basketball Coaches Association of New York (BCANY) All-State Academic Team.
- The Girls’ Varsity Softball team completed an undefeated season in the ACIS for the second consecutive season on their way to another postseason league championship.
- The Boys’ Varsity Tennis team went undefeated in ACIS and PSAA league games in the spring of 2023. For the second year in a row, the team would claim Regular Season and Postseason titles in both the ACIS and the PSAA.
- For the first time in SIA history, two Academy players were selected to play in the NYSAIS Boys’ Tennis Tournament.
- Tyler B. ’24 became the first tennis player (boy or girl) in Academy history to win the NYSAIS singles title, earning that championship with a thrilling three-set marathon victory in the finals.
- Bridget M. ’23 earned the PSAA Regular Season Most Valuable Player honors in softball after the 2023 season.
- Tyler B. ’24 was named the MVP of both the PSAA Boys’ Varsity Tennis regular season and postseason tournament, as the junior went undefeated in league play for the second consecutive season.
- 26 Tigers earned PSAA all-conference honors during the 2022-2023 school year.
- Both Saran M. ’23 and Allison G. ’23 took home the honors as Staten Island Academy’s 2022-2023 Athlete of the Year after both had fantastic seasons in soccer, basketball, and lacrosse, soccer. Saran will continue her basketball career at Navy, while Allison will continue her soccer career at Salve Regina.
- Seniors Alissar D. ’23 and Matt E. ’23 were nominated for the prestigious Varsity Club award, given to the top student-athletes from among all the high schools on Staten Island.
- Maddie C. ’23 received the school’s coveted Randall Award, and both Joe D. ’23 and Jack C. ’23 won the prestigious Huus Award at the end of the year. These awards are given to the student-athletes who best demonstrate outstanding athletic ability, leadership, sportsmanship, and fair play.
- The Boys’ Varsity Tennis Team earned the Virginia T. Kearns ’36 Award, given to a team that has had outstanding success on the playing field, combined with the highest level of sportsmanship and team spirit.
