| We know it’s never easy to enter a new school. So we do everything we can to make sure that new students and new families feel welcomed and part of our community.
Buddy Families
New families are assigned a buddy family that has a child in the same grade as their child will be entering. The buddy family gets together with the new family over the summer so that the new student has a friend when school starts.
Back-to-School Barbecue
The Back-to-School Barbecue is the official school year kick-off! Held during the first week of school, it’s a great way for new and returning families to get together in a festive atmosphere. The hamburgers are pretty good, too!
Playground Party
The Playground Party is held before school begins for new and returning Kindergarten and Pre-K students and families. It’s held in the playground, and ice cream and cookies are served. It’s a great chance for parents and students to meet each other, see the classrooms, and meet the teachers and key administrators.
Middle School Pizza Party
New Middle School students (Grades 5-8) and their buddies have a pizza party before school begins. It’s a fun time to gather as a group before students have to step into the classroom.
Upper School Field Trip
All Upper School students (Grades 9-12) attend a field trip before school starts. Both new and returning students attend a Broadway show or other Manhattan attraction to get acquainted with each other.
