Step 1: Apply to Staten Island Academy
Deadline: Friday, October 21, 2011

Either apply online or download, print, complete, and return the Application, Application Addendum, a writing sample from an English or history class assignment, and final report card from last year, along with the $25 application fee to:

The application deadline is Friday, October 21, 2011. Be sure to select your Open House date on the Application Addendum. You MUST also complete the ISEE Registration Form (Click here to request ISEE Registration Form). In order to register for the November 12 test, the ISEE form must be completed and mailed ( you CANNOT register online) with payment of $89 by October 21, 2011. (Please note that you will be charged an additional $20 fee by ISEE if you register by phone or fax.) Staten Island Academy’s school code is 335400.

Step Two: Attend an Open House
Dates: Thursday, Oct 13 at 7PM or Tuesday, Oct 18 at 9AM

Join us for a 90-minute information session about the William Winter Scholarships. With a talk from our Head of School and a presentation from our Admissions Office, you’ll get all the information you need about the scholarship process, as well as a tour of our 12-acre campus. Find out about the Academy’s academic and extracurricular programs, and see all the exciting new additions to our school.

Both Open Houses are the same, so please join us for the one that works best for you. Please call (718) 303-7802 to reserve a space at either Open House.

Step Three: Take the Exam (ISEE)
Test Date: Saturday, Nov 12 at 8:30AM

Students should arrive at Staten Island Academy for Pre-Test Registration no later than 8:30AM. Candidates should report to Kearns Hall (Where is that? See the map.) Candidates do not need to bring pencils or snacks. Calculators are not permitted. Testing will begin promptly at 9AM and will end at approximately 12:15PM. Parents are asked to arrive to pick up their
children no later than 11:45AM at Kearns Hall. Please call the Admissions Office at (718) 303-7802 if you will need an alternative test date for religious reasons.

Step Four: Come for an Interview
Date: To be scheduled

Once your application is received, we will call you to set up an interview and school visit. Applicants are required to spend either the morning or afternoon of a school day attending classes with a current Staten Island Academy student. Parent/child interviews with the Director of Admissions will also be scheduled at that time. Applicants will also be required to submit teacher recommendation forms and an official school transcript.

Step Five: Notification of Awards
Date: Mid-February 2012

Staten Island Academy will announce the recipients of the William Winter Scholarships in February 2012. All award winners will receive written notification in the mail. All other applicants will receive an admissions decision in February. Admission is very selective. Not all applicants will be offered admission and not all students offered admission will receive awards. Financial aid awards are also allocated at that time.
