IN HER OWN WORDS

“As a kid, I never felt that I was known by my teachers. I was one of many, many students in my class. I think we had 1,000 kids in my high school graduating class! So no one really knew me, and no one pushed me to take advantage of any opportunities that were available. That’s one of the reasons that I love the Academy. It’s a completely different universe from the experience that I had. And I just love that our students have so much at their finger tips and have such a strong community around them. I wish I’d gone to an independent school!” - Mrs. Hulse

Mrs. Hulse is a published author? Her interest in boys’ development led to a formal research project, the results of which were published in 1997 by the University School Press in a monograph entitled “Brad and Cory: A Study of Middle School Boys.” The project compared Middle School boys in a boys’ school with those in a similar coeducational school.
